Chicken Fried Steak
Ingredients Needed:
2 (1/2 lb) cube steaks
1 tsp of lemon pepper
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of Blackstone Steakhouse Seasoning
For your breading:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
For your wet mix:
1 cup of milk
1 egg
For your gravy:
1 /4 cup of grease (from your skillet)
1/3 cup of flour
3 cups of milk
1 tbsp pepper
1/2 tsp of salt
Pound your steaks to a thickness of 1/4 inch
Season your steaks with lemon pepper, salt, and your steakhouse seasoning. Set aside.
In a shallow container, combine your breading mixture. Set aside.
In another shallow container, combine your wet mix.
Add 1 cup of oil and 2 tbsp of butter to a cast iron skillet and heat to 350 degrees (The oil should pop loudly when a drop of the egg mixture is dropped in).
Dredge a steak in the breading mixture; shake off excess. Dip into the wet mix on both sides and return to the breading mixture.
Fry steaks in oil, for 2 minutes on each side. Internal temperature should be about 145 degrees. Place on a platter lined with paper towels.
Note: If your breading is falling off, make sure your steaks are dry before the initial coating
When your steaks are done, take some grease from your skillet and add to separate skillet on low-medium heat. Add your flour and mix until it thickens.
Add your milk, pepper, and salt; stir until it reaches your desired gravy consistency.
Plate and enjoy!
